Default White Exhaust Smoke????

Here is what i have
96 Mustang GT shorty headers, off road x, and pypes catback.

I am getting some white smoke when i take off. or it is idling and i rev it. I tried stp smoke treatment once bvefore and it worked for a little while. just put some in again. What could this problem be, what can i try. how much can it cost if its rings, or head gasket or something else. please help me out.

thanks all,

Zach

IMO it is some type of blow by. Hence ring alignment it off in on one or more pistons.

The other option is that somehow the oil from you valves area is getting in there.

Both will be fairly pricy to get fixed. Good luck

white smoke = water = coolant (head gasket, cracked cylinder, cracked head... stuff like that)
blue smoke = oil (rings, vlave guides.. stuff like that)
green smoke = ummmm not sure (toxic waste)
black smoke = gas = running rich (stuck open injectors, high fuel pressure.. stuff like so)
purple flaming smoke = fast and the furious style! (purple flames, need we say more?)

My younger cousin's 98 S/C Cobra was doing the same thing a few months ago. White smoke under WOT. Anyway, his motor knocked off. Started knocking real loud on the top passenger side, he hasn't had the money to go into it yet to find out exactly what's up,(will know this Friday)but it's loud as hell like a dropped valve or something. Anyway, he was losing alot of oil b4 it quit on him, which has me thinking maybe it was a bad ring and he just didn't keep an eye on his oil level, which lead to other problems.

Make sure you keep a close check on your oil and temp until you find out what it is.

This is correct. Most likely a blown head gasket...
