WTF is this weird THUMP when starting???

WTF is this weird THUMP when starting???
So over the last day or so, I've noticed that when the car is cold starting, or still warm but not hot, RIGHT between cranking and starting, the car sorta THUMPS. I can feel it in the tranny tunnel, which worries me because the clutch is engaged and the motor should not even be touching the tranny...
so WTF is this? It feels like theres someone inside my tranny tunnel who punches it on the left and right side. It only happens when the car hasn't started for a while, like half an hour.
I'm lost.....what could that be? The car runs like a DREAM btw...oh and I have 107k miles with an aftermarket stage II clutch that is fairly new.

mine did the same exact thing as your describing, my u-joints were bad but also with a combination of a bad tranny mount, so probably the tranny mount

Sounds like it could be a crappy tranny mount, it's still going to torque a bit with the clutch in...but I would think your tranny mount is soft.
Make sure your heat is off...when I turned my 02 GT key to the on position it would clunk while starting.
