Yeah, it does sound like a groaing sound....and it's so loud and so embarrasing when i pull into a parking lot or something. I take pride in my car and keep it in good shape and keep it clean, and to have that noise coming from it drives me insane.

if it's groaning..what did you set your backlash at? you want to be around .010-.012.

The backlash is set at .010. I'm good friends with a ford tech and we did it at his work place...we went by ford service procedures on everything. I'm not worried about the pinion depth or backlash, I know all that is fine. I'm worried about the Royal Purple fluid not having enough modifier in it for my clutch packs. They have 110,000 miles on em now and it can't hurt to add some more modifier to try to quiet it down.

were the clutch packs new? you're supposed to soak them in friction modifier for about 15 mins. before you install them.

The clutch packs are the originals...they were never touched. And Royal Purple doesn't make 75w-140. Only Motorcraft makes that and it's like $17 a quart. There's plenty of guys on here that use 75w-90 Royal Purple though and haven't had any problems. I'm just wondering about the amount of modifier that's in the RP fluid. Has anybody had any problems with RP fluid?

You guys are talking way over my head right now! I think I have the same problem you do, so I had better pay attention.Do you have an audio clip of your car making that noise? I can't help much here, I just want to know if it is the same as my car so I can do whatever it is that you do to fix it.

Mobil 1 makes 75W-140 which is what I used in my car along with a bottle of Ford Friction Modifier.

Ok, I checked the trunk for dead bodies and came up with nothing lol. But seriously, I'll use my girlfriend's camera tonight and get a clip of it. It only does it at parking lot speeds so I should be able to record it. Maybe some of you have the exact same problem and we can figure it out together.
