I have a set of VTs, I was generally pleased except that when I got mine they were going thru a shake up, and it took em 3 months just to get here. I think they have it all straighted out now. So far as the product they are fine.

All in all, other than the sound the car makes now, I totally wish I hadn't gotten cams put in. In the end it cost me dammed near 2000 dollars, and I got a HP gain of like 20 RWHP at 6000 RPM. This was from a comptelely horrible tune (My now useless Diablo mail order chip was acutally costing me power) . My current tune is STILL off, and I can't get anyone to fix it for what its worth. 500 bucks for another 6-9 RWHP?

Now im told I need headwork to break 300 RWHP?? This is terrible. It would been like 3 grand if I had gotten headwork done (and now would be a ton more unless i tear off the heads myself, not a small job).

Another 500 bucks woulda got me a PS1C kit from ATI, plus maybe 500 in the tune. So maybe 4000 dollars and I would have been looking at 425+ RWHP (10psi/intercooled).

Head/portwork just isnt worth it unless you have a ton of cash laying around, or you already are running some form of forced induction. At that point a good portjob or a set of nice cams that are matched to your setup will yeild super results. Until then you just gotta look to the dollar/horsepower formula.

Almost 800 for the springs and camshafts when all was said and done. The install and tune was 1000 bucks. That was with a new chip, as the chip I had was hard for em to tune (re:impossible). I pretty much got a steal on the install + tune for everything that went wrong. I was without my car for a month and 2 weeks. Everything that could have went wrong.

with the way you have that car set up as far as mods go stage 2 would be the way to go, nothing wrong with that, infact should make your engine life longer because yoru car will be breathing alot better, and yeah your going to need those springs...i have a stage 2 on the way as a matter of fact. good luck

I've got VT stage 1 n/a cams in the car right now... cost was $520 I beleive. Didn't get a tune... just slapped them in... but without a tune I only picked up .1 and 2 mph at the strip. Dunno how much power I made prior to the blower. With cams and full bolt-ons you'd get around 290 rwhp or so...

VT stage 2 cams offer probably 5 more hp peak over the stage 1's but... at the cost of probably 10 hp down low. In my opinion... unless your gonna be shifting at 6500 - 6800 rpm then don't get the stage 2's... as from the mouth of Scott @ VT the stage 2's were designed for cars with ported heads and the stage 1's for stock heads.

Im getting mine ported, so i think im gonna do the stage 2. I will have a 9psi blower w/ intercooler before the end of the summer. Do i need to get s/c cams? Will the stage twos work ok with and without FI??

no the stage 2's will suck nutz for blown cars... get a blower grind, you'll still pickup na power. my stage 1's are eating up 4 #'s of boost!
