Default Cold Air Intake problem?

I just installed my Cold Air Intake today and afterwards, when i just have the car in park or reverse or in drive holding the brake a a light, it sorta has this deep loping sound like the RPMs go up and down, like from 1grand to 2grand, sounding like im givin it gas. is this normal or is something wrong. The mass air flow sensors and everything are hooke up right.

My 2000 does that, but it's when the a/c is on and after the car is warmed up. My will drop to about 400 rpm and then surge up to about 1400 rpm. Mines all stock except for a K&N. I don't think it's spossed to do that, be interesting if anyone else as seen and fixed this problem

Check for dust, dirt etc on the MAF sensor.
This commonly happens when installing K&N filters when a little piece of the plastic bag the filter is shipped in finds it way onto the MAF sensor.
Also check for leaks.

I would also unplug the battery for 30 minutes or so, plug it back in and then allow the car to relearn it's idle paramaters.
My for some reason seems very sensitive to intake changes and it was hunting when I installed a K&N and removed the silencer.
Allowing it to relearn solved the problem.
BTW don't mess with the idle stop screw on the throttle body.

Looks like I ended up fixing my similar problem. My problem was a bad A/C cycling switch. Don't know if yours is just with the A/C or defrost on like mine or if it does it all the time.

Hell... mine has done it since I have known the car! My friend bought it when it had 15k miles on it... it now has 60k on it... but not on the motor... the motor was replaced by the dealership under warranty last year... still idles just like you mentioned! I have been around alot of stangs... always 5.slows before, and they have all idled this way! I kinda thought it was normall!! Well.. if it isnt... it cant be to bad! My car has always done it! Let me know if you find out what it is!
