i just bought a 02 5spd, autos are everywhere and i couldnt find a manual that was nice, but it took a little time to find the right one, i wouldnt get a auto i love 5spd
Since you were recently in my shoes what did you look for in terms of potential problems, aside from normal wear and tear? Any help is appreciated...

I'm really liking that Oxford White, tons of potential cosmetically!

heh

if you're using it as a DD and aren't going to abuse it, get an auto, because chances are it hasn't been abused (as bad as a manual)

but if you plan on having any kind of fun then get a standard

the 4r70w is a pretty strong trans where as the 3650 is a pile of ****

since you prefer the standard, dont settle, you wont treat it as nicely or appreciate it as much as if you did get what you want

I really appreciate your insight, can you tell me more about the throw out bearing issue or possible head issues? Anything specific I should look or listen for when test driving? I did use the search function but the results were confusing and these were the two mainissues I kept reading about. Thanks again!

Don't bash on the Auto's! It may not be as fun but throw a shift kit (and/or stall converter etc!) on and get it tuned and you'll have an extremely solid transmission that can rival standards. Think about it, a built auto tranny vs the 3650 for example; computer vs you, who do you think is gonna shift faster? But all in all, go with what you want both are great choices. Really comes down to your prefered driving style, I hate driving stick in bumper to bumper traffic so I got an Auto. And I'm lazy haha .

This is so true I have beat many manual mustangs and other cars just because of it being a auto. They miss a gear, rev to high of the start and spin. All while they are doing that all I have to do is get the stall going let go of the break and mash it. I actually have beat mustangs that should be beating me just because of them being a manual. I also have flushed the tranny every 30k. And I know if you take car of a manual it will be good but still see alot of syncro threads on here.

I dunno, I kinda wish I had gone with a auto car now (after 4+ years of modding). if you think an auto isn't any fun, you should ride in a stalled/geared/shift kit (with cooler of course) auto car.
