Default Smoking issue??

My '98 Gt is smoking 9 out of 10 times when i get on it decent. I rac a compression check on every cylinder. 160 to 180 psi on all 8? Are the valve guides gone and that's why it's smoking or what???? And if i need to pull the heads off is it easier to do while the engine is in or out of the car??????

Could be valve guides. What color is the smoke?. Blue is oil ( valve guides or ring blowby ). White is coolant. Black is a fuel related problem.

The smoke is white ish blue.... I was wondering about tieing the drivers side pcv valve in with the passenger side. the driver's side is ran into my cool air intake. Would that make a difference?

How do you exactly clean that? I think that's my problem also.

I had lots of puffy white smoke whenever I'd get on it, about 5-10 seconds after I started WOT...

It turns out my shifter came loose, the fluid would spill out of the top of the transmission between shifts, down to the driveshaft, which would then spatter it all over my exhaust where it would burn and smoke white out of the back of the car. Was a mess under there, looked like I killed the tailshaft seal, then followed the mess up to the shifter... where i saw my gasket blown out. Took it off, replaced the gasket with RTV sealant, threadlocker on the shifter bolts, and tightened it back down.

Check under the car... who knows.

just pull the pcv valve out of the passenger side cam cover and spray carb cleaner in it.

yeah you can do that if you have a pre 03 gt. 03-04 have a different style pcv that need to be cleaned because it is hard to find (couldnt even get one at ford).
