Default Clutch Question

Hey, i remember not to long ago a question about a bad clutch, i cant find it anymore but anyway, in it i remember people say if you are in gear and then push the clutch in the clutch could be going bad if the rpms dont drop almost immediatly. on mine (which came with a superchip before i bought it) the rpms will hang steady for about 1.5 seconds then drop, could this be because of the superchip? My clutch going bad? Or is this just normal...I could see use for it if it is the superchip, you wouldnt drop rpms before shifting I honestly dont know though.

ive never heard of this before, but if it DOES work it sounds like the worst way to check for a slipping clutch to me. alot of times you can put the transmission in a high gear at a relatively low speed and go WOT. if the rpms jump way up without you going anywhere your clutch is slipping.

Your "hangin rpms" is a common thing among the crappy Ford motors! You can buy an IAC restrictor which closes up the hole so your rpm's drop faster. It has nothing to do wih your clutch being bad or not!

in the v8? i thought the v8's were pretty good engines? Oh well do you know the price range that i would need to fork out to get the IAC?

It's not the IAC, it's just a restrictor gasket you swap out for the standard gasket that seals th IAC up to the Throttle body. They run about $6 off of ebay. I forget the guy's name, but someone here should know!
