from what a friend told me to install long tubes or shorty headers, either way you have to drop the k-member, is this true?

I paid someone to do it b/c I didnt have the ***** to try it myself, and did not want to mess up my new to me stang. I was told you need to drop it about 1-2 inches and keep the motor supported, IDK though

wow, thats steep for a "friends shop". I paid 350 to install the headers, midpipe and weld cutouts into the midpipe. They would of charged 50 bux more to install the catback and weld it up.

i had the headers and midpipe done the first time from a mechanic at ford for 120... the psat 2 times around though i have done them. also have done them on a friends car... you only need to drop the k member an inch or two.. i dont have to drop mine anymore with the tubular though.

its not fun. I've done it twice. Dealing with the stearing shaft and god forbid the damn starter bolts. Its much easier with the trans out, but after they are in, its hell getting the trans in. Its about a 4-12 hour job depending on how much pacients you have and how good you are at working blindly even with a lift. I did a PI swap and rebuilt the trans my self and the only thing i really dreaded was putting the damn headers back on.....
