previous 6 owner lookin 4 gt!
i dont have much knowledge of the 4.6 so i gotta couple quick questions....first off some history...i used to have a black 98 v6,looked pretty sweet for a 6,(cobra front end, bought it like that) but as tho i loved the stang, the v6 was limited....im back up looking for another mustang now that i got some money, not good credit so im looking for something somewhat cheap, luckily i like the 94-98body styles just as much as the new edge.....i got two picked on autotrader, one a 96gt with extras for only like 4k.....the other is a 2000gt stock i think for like 5500 list price i think....both have over 100k miles,i think the 96 has saleen ground effects andnew engine and clutch at 80k, but unless he has proof idk if ima believe that(idk if a pro put it in either or in this guys garage, like i said it was on autotrader and have not made any effort to contact the seller other than ask for interior pics of the 00....if i remember correctly something is different with the intakes of the 98< to the new edge gts..like ported and polished or something...i know they have alot of miles but i have a good mechanic backgound so it wouldnt bother memuch to have to maybe replace some minor problems....lemme know what u think...i will get some links up later im about to go to the bank and see how much i can get and how shi**y of an interest rate they throw at me....i really like both these prices and may even get them lowered since theyre bein privately sold...appreciate it and dont hate on the 6

99-04 are PI (performance improved) and are rated somewhere around 40 hp higher than the 96-98. if i were you i would actually get a 94-95 gt with a 5.0.
IMO the 5.0 has more potential than the 4.6, if you are looking for something really fast. that is whyi am looking for a 5.0 car to build as a drag car. 5.0 parts are cheaper and the aftermarket parts world is alot bigger. for example. no companies actually cast heads for the 4.6, all they do is a port/polish/valve job and call them stage 3. for the 5.0, both AFR and TFS cast aftermarket heads and they tend to flow alot better. some of the new TFS heads even get close to 350 CFM (i think the cnc ported type R heads or something). so thats what i would do.
but i do love my 96. i know its not the fastest thing on the road, but it is alot of fun to drive and great for a daily driver. i have some suspension work done and it corners and handles great.
you can also do a PI swap on the NPI (96-98) 4.6 and see a little bit more power than the 99-04's due to a bump in the compression ratio.

I went from a sweet looking 94 v-6(my opinion of course) to a 99 gt.,I love it(also went from coupe to conv). If you like the 94-98 body style best, then get the 94-95 5.0 as posted earlier. I would in my opinion avoid the 96-98 4.6l and get the 99+ gt. It's totaly a matter of personal taste's, go test drive some at a car lot and see which one YOU prefer

i think you should use the hyperlink button when posting links that long so it doesnt stretch the page out and make everything hard to read. its the globe with a chain link and next to it.
i wouldnt touch the first one. 127k on the original motor and the guy didnt even bother to vaccume the interior for his FOR SALE pictures so i doubt the well maintained part is true.
the second one if its had a new motor and clutch recently as he saidget proof. ask him for reciepts and contact the shop he got it done at (obviously if its a different motor than a stock sn95 npi motor you wont have to but if its a NPI motor he could just be lying as alot of people do). HP difference is impossible to tell because for all we know "motor swap at 80k" could be anything. im willing to bet the interior is crap since he didnt post any on the autotrader ad, and make sure you get a carfax. 3900$ though so i wouldnt be surprised if something is wrong
