Lumpy idle and hesitant acceleration??
Hi guys,
Not posted much on here cause not had too much time to spend on the Mustang, still absloutely loving the car though!!
Last week I had a transmition leak fixed in my '98 GT, which involved removing the transmition (auto) and replacing some seals. Since I got the car back I noticed firstly the idle wasn't so smooth. It fluctuates on start up then when it settles it sends vibrations through the dashboard, giving me some really annoying rattles!!
Then I had it out for a good drive yesterday and once the engine reaches operating temp, it almost hesitates when accelerating at higher speeds, i.e. doing 100kph, accelerate and it will stumble a bit then pick up. Like a missfire. And it is def better when the engine is colder.
Anyone any idea? The car maybe do with a service but i'm wondering if anyone else has had the same prob??
Thanks,
Geo1400

At this point it is hard to say.I would look at all the vacume lines. Maybe one got pulled or not hooked back right. Check all sparkplug wires. Also maybe check the timing. Good Luck...

Your pcm may have to relearn the idle, and timing curves. If the battery was disconnected for a while, then go take it for a 45min drive, then turn it off and let it cool all the way down. If you have cruise control use it on your drive.
