If its not a stock rebuild, the price of labor and the "perfromance" parts, it will probably be cheaper and less pain to buy a built one.

They very from place to place a lot. Even a stock rebuild can run you anywhere from 1500 to 3000. I've seen places like Certified transmissions that will rebuild with high performance parts for like 2500. But like uberstang said, you might have an easier time finding one that's already built and ready to go for cheaper.

Can a shop rebuild a transmission in 1 day?

How do I know if they even did any work? Is there anything I can check besides just driving it?

Thanks

Best bet is to buy one already rebuilt and then trade in your tranny as a core and they give you money for it.

some might be able to. But I think they usuallywant it for 3 days. Unless you know what was wrong, what to look for, and you're willing to drop the pan and look, then no you wont know. If you were having shifting problems and such then you should know by driving it. That's why you go to a reputable shop!
