Trans & Rear diffrential service questions..
What do you guys think of Redline 75w90 gear oil?
And also, to replace the fluid, theres no drain plug, right? So i take off the cover, but when i go to re install it,my haynes saysford uses black RTV from the factory. I went to napa and they told me that they sell actual gaskets for our cars for the rear diffrential..should i get the RTV or the gasket?
Also, the MANUAL 5spd transmission takes Dexron Mercon 4, right? I was going to use redline for that too.

RE: Trans & Rear diffrential service questions..
I would just get a gasket. When you get a rebuild kit for the rear end it comes with a gasket. I'm sure that gear oil is fine, even though others will tell you to use royal purple, but make sure that fluid has friction modifier for the posi orif it doesn't then you needadd friction modifier when you change fluid.
Edit: I just read up on your redline fluid and it does contain friction modifier so you won't need anything additional.
As for the tranny fluid...I'm an auto guy and I know my tranny takes Mercon 4 so I don't think that's going to be for your tranny. Maybe there is a mercon 4 for the manuals as well I don't know, but I would definitly double check before you purchased anything. I'm sure a manual guy can tell you what they use.
