Default 2000 gt

Hey guys ive recently got my first car a 2000 mustang gt with a cold air intake, some flowmasters, and exterior mods. The car has some fr500 rims on it in silver but the car is white so im wondering if you can have them powdercoated black? Does that hold up and is it expensive? Also i have another grand to put into the car, i would like some more rwhp but im not sure what would be best bang for the buck. Any suggestions? Thanks guys

I was in the same situation you were in. 1st thing, with Flows go with the H-pipe (if possible o/r). I am installing 3:73 gears and I also purchased a SCT tuner from Brenspeed.I will be installing the gears on Friday and will be receiving my tuner on Monday. I'll let you know how it turns out.

i've never had anything powdercoated, but you would be better off just finding a shop near you that does powdercoating and talk to them about it. they'll tell you if they can powdercoat them. if you've got $1000, i'd invest it in some long-tube headers and off-road x-pipe (or h-pipe, whichever you prefer). depending on what brand you get, that could run you anywhere from $500-$1500 (roughly). you might also consider some 3.73s or 4.10s. the stock gears (3.27) aren't very good for performance, adding a set of 3.73s or 4.10s will FEEL like about 50 hp at the rear wheels, trust me it's worth the money spent. if you can put the gears in yourself, then it's a pretty cheap upgrade. you can probably even find some shops to do it for $250 or less. if you've got a steady source of income and can keep saving up, honestly, i'd just save that $1000 and wait until you've got about $5000 and get a supercharger. you can get the Mongoose kit with a Paxton Novi 2000 for about$4500 from Modular Powerhouse (www.modularpowerhouse.com). it comes with everything needed for installation, and also comes with a handheld tuner. they've got tons of custom tunes, so they've probably got one to match your current mods, which will save you the trouble of having to get a dyno tune.

I powdercoated my rims and they held up really well. In addition to that they looked really good without all the cost of getting new rims.

Powder coating is very strong, it will hold up very well. Make sure you check around for the best deal though, I know of someone who does it for 45 a wheel...just to give you an idea or a ballpark figure.

Your best option is to find someone with black fr500s that wants to trade for silvers...if that doesnt work out then look into powdercoating.

With the 1000 i would save it...save up another 1000 then find a used S/C kit.
