Default H?X? what about straight

Why always X pipes or H pipes. Thats all i ever hear about on hear. Why does no one have Straight pipes?

you want as little back pressure as possible. if you wanted back pressure, then there would be no point in doing aftermarket exhaust upgrades. i remember reading before about professional racing teams (some road course and some circle track even) experimenting with pressure zones under the car and found that due to high speed air flow, there were some areas under the car with negative pressure and they routed their exhaust to exit at this point, which created a slight vacuum effect, literally "pulling" exhaust gases from the pipes, so the engine had to use less power to expel those exhaust gases.

back pressure is unwanted because it uses up engine power just to propel them through the exhaust system. why would you want something that will use up engine power?

Oh goodness. Not the backpressure again.

Midpipes help equalize pressure, and it sure does help the sound. The X vs H is purely subjective, and you can go either way.
