Default RE: idleing

Just the other week my car idled at the stop light from 500rpm for 8-seconds and then to 900rpm for 5-seconds over and over again, was so annoying, I went to Pep Boys and they told me to go to Midas Mufflers....seems I had a small exhaust leak coming from a loose bolt between my H-pipe and manifold or something.....they tightened it for me in minutes and now I idle perfectly at 500rpm now.

Maybe what you have, but don't know...

Did you start having the problem after you replaced your intake components
( mass air, tb, intake plenum etc. ). Cause if you did you might have an intake
leak. Also try disconnecting the battery for 5 minutes. I had the same problem
when I installed my cai and tb. Try spraying carb cleaner around your intake
components.

no I actually only noticed it when I droe about 200 miles in the rain the other day. I don't know if that did it but on the way back I noticed at a red light that it was having trouble.

Is the cai filter in the fender. If so you might have water in the engine.
I ended up replacing the IAC valve cause someone told me ford had some problem
with the and I only paid about 38 bucks. It's not hard to replace. Took about
5 minutes.

Did you drive through a large puddle, if so you might have water in your
engine. Try cleaning your fuel injectors and changing your engine oil.
Also try removing the cai to ck. for water.

[:@]haw long do you think it would take to clean the injectors and what would that involve. Its coimming around the time for an oil change anyway and that air filter is a pain in the butt to get to.

If you want to save money, try using fuel additive or take it to a repair
shop to have them cleaned. That filter is a pain in the butt, but you gotta
do what you gotta do. It's better than replacing the motor. Soon I will
replace my cai for that reason. I intend to install a C&L mass air meter
which requires their intake pipe. The cai looks better but I prefer more
POWER!!!
