Default Transmission Problem

Hey every one I'm new to this sight but not new when it comes to Ford performance cars or performance forums. I'm not used to this sight so I don't know if I'm posting this question in the right area. I have an 01 GT with the 4.6L SOHC today I took it into the shop to have the clutch plate, pressure plate, and throw out bearing replaced. They noticed some other things that they could fix easily so I said yea can't hurt. Except for the one part that they need. They said they had to order the whole bell housing which is $500for a part that looks like it cost maybe $25 at most. From what I could tell is that its a metal sleeve pressure fitted onto the internal side of the bell housing which protects the teeth on the input shaft and which the throw out bearing is seated on. I don't know what the part is called but I really don't want to pay $500 for parts that I don't need when its just that peice thats bad. Any one know what the part is called and if i could get ahold of one from anywhere.

I ordered it from the dealer for 75 bux yesterday. Its called the Throwout bearing retainer, its what the throwout bearing rides on as you engage and disengage the clutch. Over time it will wear thin and start squeel and vibrate as the TOB wobbles around the retainer. Mine started making a noise a few months back, thought it was the TOB. While I was in there I had the clutch, pressure plate, rear main seal, pilot bearing changed and they didnt change the friggin TOB retainer and now it still squeels. I guaruntee you it will squeel if you dont replace it. They are yanking your chain, it costs 75 bux from the dealership, 65 if you get a shop discount. good luck

Thanks alot, I thought that if it was a seperate part that I should be able to order it seperately. I'll start checking around see what I come up with. Any chance you have a part number? I just wanna make sure its not the fork that the TOB is attached to and the actual sleeve or tube that the input shaft comes through.
