And just to clarify a bit. I didn't make that post to sound harsh towards your friend who installed them, but just to point out some things that people get wrong about ring and pinion gears all the time. So many garages use those bull**** excuses, that people actualy believe them. I know that some people had good installs and they don't make noise. Some people have bad installs and they do make noise. I personaly do not know, if at this point, you can go back and re-shim them to take the noise out. I'm actualy kinda leaning towards not being able to, in which case would suck for your car.

WRONG.
Gear noise is an install problem only. If the backlash is set wrong, they make noise. PLAIN AND SIMPLE. The "break in" crap and "certain brands do it" crap are only BS excuses that hackjob garages use when THEY **** up.
hey man i didn't know.. i was only relaying what i've heard. and you'd have to agree that people say this quite often (that certain brands are known for whining) and i've never heard anything to counter it, so i didn't know any different. i'm glad you cleared it up, but did you have to be such a dick about it?

hey my friend and I installed 3.73's just yesterday. i can most def feel the difference. still breaking them in, but i have noise when i deaccelerate especially in 2nd and 3rd. my friend said they should quiet down after they're broken in. is this true? also i'm going to buy a tuner so i can adjust the speedometer. i'm racking up miles on my odometer which isn't cool. looked at alot of the posts and i'm going to go with the SCT Xcal 3. any objections?
I just did 4.10s and tuner last week. I bought what I thought were frpp gears but got motive instead. The guy who put them in spent the time to do it right I have no whine and awesome power. Its all about the install.

Mine made no noise at all. It's all in the installation. I took my time and made sure I did it right.
