Default Shift Kit?

I have heard a lot about these Shift Kits, but I am confused on what it exactly does? Does it turn your automatic car into a manual or what? If i have a automatic car and I buy a Shift Kit for it, what will it do. I was looking on transgo and they have some different ones, an automatic and shift type, what is the difference?
Thanks for your help!

Default RE: Shift Kit?

It helps your car shift harder and faster so you gain ground on the shift instead of losing ground with a soft shift. If you are driving the car manually...like 1st-2nd-drive-OD, it will hold each gear till you shift it. If you just keep it in Drive it will shift normally, just harder and faster....especially at WOT. They make it a lot more fun IMO.
