Default cold air intake with nitrous question

I bought a 2000 gt a few months back. it came with a few mods on it. not sure what all came on it. the previous owner ran it at the dragstrip a lot. he had a few stock parts put back into it befor it was sold to me.

I want to add a few mods to it myself, but i want to start with something small, like a cold air intake. my problem is that my stang has a bullet style intake (or atleast i think), with a nitro line connected to the air intake hose. i'm afriad to mess with it because i'm not sure how it will effect my ride. plus i'm not sure what kind of cold air intake i need to get for it. do i need to get a bullitt style intake or a specialy made one?

I would also like some advice about the nitrous system. i think its hooked up right and all the parts are there but i'm not sure. it seems like every thing is in order under the hood. it has all of the switches, buttons and gauges. it even has a line going to the trunk where it meets a bottle mount. I don't know much about nitro systems or what would be safe to use.

i'll try to post up a few pics. of the nitro system and intake tomorrow. any help would be greatly appreciated.

you need to look for a bullitt style cold air intake. You got pretty lucky getting that on there for free as theyre pretty pricey and kinda rare to find used.

first things first.

its nitrous...not nitro

no, you just drill a hole in the new intake. i would not even think about getting that nitrous hooked up until you do a little more research and have more time behind the wheel of that car. find out what all you have and what you need. i see 2 solenoids and 2 hoses going into the nozzle, so that means you probably have a wet kit installed and thats the fuel and nitrous solenoids. dont know if its got a purge on it (not really a necessity but useful and looks cool as ****). find out if you have a wot switch, rpm switch, fuel pressure cutoff switch, ummm cant think of anything else. you will need atleast a bottle and a bottle heater.

wont hurt to take the nozzle out of the intake, but plug it with something if you do.

nitrous if used wrong will blow your motor with a quickness and it only takes one slip up (dont let that discourage you...when used PROPERLY and knowledgably it is safe).

welcome to the mustang world and yeah your lucky getting that bullet intake on there. those can get pretty expensive. clean that engine bay tho thats horribly dirty

Thank you, people keep telling me I got luck with this one. I bought my stang for $6,400. lol yea the engine bay is a little dirty. I haven’t really had the time to give my car the attention it deserves. I’ll try to post a few more pics after work today.

Do you have a performance shop near you that could give it a once over? It's worth having it checked out so it doesn't go boom.
