5.0 vs. 4.6 comparison
Ok, I know it is a complete different engine but does anyone know what changes were made regarding induction, cams, MAF, TB over the 5.0. Obviously, the 4.6 is a more powerful motor, I am curious as to what was done to achieve this....better induction...cams...MAF...TB....???

The difference is a cam, literally. The 5.0s are push-rod engines, meaning there is one cam, located under the intake, that push the roller-rocker to open the valve. The 4.6s are modular engines, meaning the that there is one cam per head. 5.0s are much easier to work on, but the 4.6s aren't that hard either, compared to Camaros and other GMs.

RE: 5.0 vs. 4.6 comparison
Thanks...I know that...what I mean is for instance what is the comparison of the stock cam with lift, duration, etc...and did they open up the heads and intake to help breathing. It seems with 5.0's that's what needs to be done...heads, cam, intake to even make them competitive with a stock 4.6. The 4.6 appears to have gained some hp and has made the Mustang quicker in stock form. I am curious now the Blue Oval did this.

RE: 5.0 vs. 4.6 comparison
Seriously?? I don't want to mention how many miles I have on my 5.0 but it's a lot. It runs great...the thing is bullet proof. If it broke tomorrow the car would owe me nothing. The high mileage has me thinking of what I should do if I needed to replace my car. Go with another 5.0 and make mods to get to where the 4.6 is or just buy a newer 4.6. I didn't know there was a question with reliablity of the 4.6.
