Default custom midpipe

If i go lt headers could i just make a custom midpipe from the stock midpipe? I can do all the welding and cutting myself im just wondering if the cats have to be in a certain place or if they can just be welded in wherever? (i live in NJ so no crazy emission resrictions) and wat brand would you go with?

it'd be easier if you had shorty headers but it can still be done...just more work...but i reccomend buying high flow cats to replace the stock ones because when you cut off a couple ofthe stock cats it makes the car sound like crap...i was thinkin about doin the same thing but i've seen vids and it sounds terrible

wat i mean by this is that is there an aftermarket one in cause im not really sure? I know it has flowmaster mufflers and a k&n intake but i bought it with that. It could be after market cause my car is louder than my buddies 05 gt with like $15000 put into it.
