The best way is to heat cycle them, say 50 miles or so. Then let them cool down completely, after that you should be able to rock and roll.

check out this site. I didn't know about the break in period either so I looked it up. http://www.ringpinion.com/content/te...lt.asp?pid=122 It pretty much says that if you don't break in your new gears right you could potentially cause lots of damage. It also recommends to change the oil after 500 miles on the new gears. I hope this helps.

I'd get those gears looked at again. The gears should be whisper quiet at all speeds. Did he change the bearings out when he put the gears in? If so, he may not have shimmed it properly and it's the gears making the noise. Is it a whining noise or a rumbling noise? Either way, if you can hear it over your exhaust, it's no good.

There isn't a noise anymore when turning right, so I'm not worried about the axle bearing anymore. Yes we changed the bearings when putting the gears in and there is no whine at all except for a slight noise while in 5th so everything feels great. I got on the gears over the weekend and I'm so happy with them. With the whole Ford Racing Gear topic, I used Bullett 4.10s that I got from a mustang store nearby and they work great, no whine at all. The whole key to eliminating gear whine is shimming, so if you can find a good set of gears for less that aren't ford I'd say go for it. It just takes like 5 min to figure out how much to shim and you're all set to go.

Kind of off topic, but how much hp does a Stage II Rousch come stock, one of the newer years.
