Ya man I have the same issue with mine I'm just to cheap to get it fixed right now but here ya go.
You have two options really.
1.)Disable PATS with abypass module used normally with an alarm. They will need to program it with their computer, and it's not something you can do from home. The only other way for you to bypass it is to wire resistors in the correct values in the data wire. Honestly I found it easier to have my tuner turn mine off with his tuning software.

Also chances are the BestBuy installer you'll talk to will be an idiot. So just tell him what you need him to do and if he has any questions call "Secret Weapon" to guide him through it. SW is our tech Guru's Keep it simple for him, "You want the Bypass installed" without an alarm.

2.) Buy a tuner or you can go to the dealer and have them remove the PATS so you don't have to buy a tuner and some tunes. The dealer only charges 1hour diagnostic time for that. Less than $100. Just get the computer code of the ecu you used so they don't bang you for anymore time.

Nope They need the whole car. The dealer is prob your best bet. I'm just waiting til I move back home I hate the dealer around here they are really cocky! Back in Indiana I have hook ups prob get it done for d*mn near free. But yes dealer is your best bet they need the whole car since pats is run through the computer not the dash cluster.

Are you missing the cluster all together? Why are you doin what you are doing? Why don't you take what you need off the new one and put it on your old one the same way you would install Simco gauges?

I am also an installer at Best Buy and you're right they will talk to him like he's an Idiot. Not because you are, but because so many "OTHER" people are. And, just like everywhere, People who don't know much tend to overcompensate. It's very straight forward, but they wont want to do it. I had my tuner turn off my PATS system saves me from a lot of BS. It's the easiest and most cost effective way.

sxynerd, to your question, im switching clusters because the original reads in miles and up n canada it needs to read kms, i dont think i could swap the guts because of the calibraton and the odometer reading, can the pats system be turned off by a car audio/ alarm installer without instaling a alarm? cheers

Oh, Ok... I get it. No, C/A installer can't turn it off. Only a tuner can turn it off through the ECU (SCT/Diablo) or go the other route and find a BB or A CUSTOM car audio shop in your area. A BB employee may not want to do for fear of him being liable and it's not something they do that often.

Haha, it's like I was arguing with myself... I thought it sounded familiar. As you can tell by my Bolded statement, Sometime I like my job and people I work with, sometimes I hate it and think they are Idiots.
