Default Car dies on start up...

It started today while I was working. I went to start up my car, and it started normally for about 2 seconds then it dies and I heard a loud pop from my exhaust. It happened twice today, but it didn't happen everytime on start up. Anyone have any ideas?

loud pop...

was it a backfire? if so that might be why it died (if its running too rich)

do you got an O/R pipe or cats?

Its probably the Idle Air Control valve, or IAC. Mine did that some. It would try start and bog down and shut off. I would have to start it and give some gas and it would clear up. Try cleaning it or replacing it.

just pull the IAC off and clean it out with carb cleaner and then stick it back on...takes all of 5 minutes....my car used to die on warm starts unless i feathered the gas, cleaned the IAC and all is well now

***not saying the IAC is your problem, mine never backfired, it just died....but it takes no time at all so whats the harm

yea its that black box with two hoses coming out of it connected to your plenum. Lemme know if that helps kyle but I think that might be your problem. Backfire probaly just came from your exhaust since yours running o/r and strait thrus. Got a lil rich probaly
