Default Biggest Numbers on Tune

I have a stock 2000 gt, with cai and cat back exhaust. By getting it dyno tuned what could i expect for number and time difference. It would be nice to know asap. I got a race in a few weeks and im throwin down 100 bucks on it, and i only lost by half a car length with no traction. What would my best bet be. Gears or tuning or drag radials? Thanks...

no not gears if you need this in a week, you really have to relearn launching with gears. if you already had traction problems go with drag radials and take out extra weight

Tune would be a waste of money for you I would just get drag radial and take out the weight. Hash06 is right If you have trouble launching now you will have big trouble with gears.

By the way what are you racing.

I agree, however only if the OP is married to running 87 octane fuel.A good, even a canned, 93 octane tune would significantly boost the mid and upper mid-range power--perhaps by 15 to 20 HP (peak may only grow by 3-4, however that's only doing anything just as you're shifting*). Moving to higher grade fuel (and tuning for it) will always produce noticable power gains, and often improved fuel economy that offsets the higher cost. But with 93 still only costing 20¢ a gallon more than 87 you only need to boost MPG by 5.5% (say from 20 to 21.1 MPG) to break even...-----------------------* - There is far too much emphasis placed on peak HP and torque, and an almost total disregard for gains/losses anywhere else in the powerband. I'd gladly trade 5 HP at the peak for5 HP where I could really use it...

N/A after a tune I picked up 9RWHP and 12RWTQ.

If you're racing from a dig, I would go with DR's and driver mod. Practice!

if with DRs he is going to need to relearn how to launch cuz those are a completely different beast from street tires too. i would honestly say go with the tune cuz you won't have to 'relearn' anything and it will have you more power and if you can get traction with a little more power you are going win.
