Well the guy I bought it off of all he told me was that the timing chain was broke and that he couldnt fix it himself so he was selling it. He said his dad was a mechanic and i am guessing that is where his info came from. As you can see i am new here and dont always necessarily know what to put in my posts so all you have to do is ask for more info and not act like you have toward me. Thank you!

do what????

I've been trying to help you from your first post, should I not?

What'd you pay for the car? The story just doesnt make a whole lot of sense yet. Why would someone sell a car that has a broke timing chain if they don't know for sure, and furthermore, if you bought a car with a broke timing chain, you'd have to expect there would be head/valve damage for sure.

I still don't quite get what you meant by the acting like I have comment, so I guess I'll ignore it.....

My last post was basically asking you what's wrong with the car? Does it not run? Not start? We don't have any background, so thus far, there's little we can do to even begin to help....

Ok, im sorry. I misunderstood your post, so i apologize, my bad. We brother got the email from a friend of his about the car and in it he said that the car has a broken timing chain so he was selling it cause he couldnt fix it himself. We drove to Macomb, IL to pick it up and I gave him 500 bucks for it. Nice body, no body rust, small dent over rear driver fender. But overall nice looking for a '96. We got it home and put it on a jump starter and turned it over and it wouldnt start. This is pretty much the first motor i (might) have had apart other than lawn mower engines. So I took the intake and the valve covers off thinking it was timing chains but now I am stuck. Once again I apologize for my post. Thank you!

N/m then. I was thinking this was a newer (like 3-4 year old) car that you paid a lot of money for.

Hopefully someone will be able to chime in at some point and help you out more than I can.

Don't really know what all it could be if the car didnt start. I suppose the timing could be off, but that would be a lot of work to find out that it's fine.
