Default RE: Tuner???

ORIGINAL: Jbauer

Why do people always say tuners aren't worth the money? The way I see it, at 15-20HP+ for lightly bolt on modded cars and adjustability for 400 bones... it's probably the second most cost effective bolt on there is. Mid pipe + catback + TB + plenum + intake put together dont make as much HP as a tuner and that alone is over 1000 dollars
IDK, it's the3rd purchase I recommend for anyone that is serious about modding their car. Firstis to spend a lousy $65 to $80 at the local dyno and get a baseline, my '03 GT went up on the drums 3 days after I got and that's only because I got it on a Friday night;Second is a 2-1/2" X/H-pipe (high-flow cats or o/r, it reallydoesn'tmatter) and2-1/2" catback; that's always a good first mod form bothperformance and satisfaction perspectives; Then buy a tuner and slap in a premium fuel tune. Premium is still only $3 to $4 a tank more than 87, skip the Starbucks latte that morning or drink a bit less beer than evening if the few bucks is that important...
