Automatic upshifting!!
Indeed^^^^^ and what do you mean it shifts earlier than you want it too at WOT??? you're reaching peak power at about 5200-5400 rpms anyway. Mine will shift @ WOT @ about 5700 rpms. Why whoudl you wanna run it any further??? I'm confused by your statement. But yes a shift kit will do wonders for our autos. And my car will not shift from D2 to D (automatically) It will bounce off of the rev limiter..... And I can drop down to D2 from D or overdrive whenever I want.... Not gonan do that again though. I think I did that the first week I owned the car, bad idea.....[:@]
yeah i wouldnt upshift your car.. if you do it too often your tranny is gunna start to slip and your gunna need to get it serviced. and if you downshift your tranny is gunna fall out and your gunna need a new one. get a shift kit and a stall converter
You can manually shift your tranny once in a while and you'll be okay. However, 1st gear runs up the RPM very quickly. You'll be at 6000 in a few seconds. I would highly suggest purchasing a shift light for this purpose. Raptor makes a light specifically for Mustangs. It is $75. No pill box needed. This light is adjustable. I set mine at 5000 rpms. If you don't have a shift kit installed, set it at 4500. The reason is without a kit, the tranny takes a second and a half to respond and by that time, you are hitting your REV LIMITER. When that happens, your Stang will jerk forward hard, and you will get strangled in your seat belt! Your engine shuts down to protect your engine.
To be honest, I start off in second gear. Even with a shift kit, I still have trouble responding to shifts quickly.
