Quick lifter question please
I am installing the stock cams on the stock heads with all the stock components. Are the lash adjustersadjustable? Does it matter if I just dropped them in the heads, layed the rockers over top, and tightened the cam with the marks facing up?
Modular motors dont have lifters.

With that being said....
Ideally, you should soak the HLAs in oil over night, or at least for a little while before dropping them into the head. This prevents premature colapse, which would have you pull a few things apart.. Not extremely difficult, more of a PITA.. Use some assembly lube around the oil port on the top, and on the sides, and you should be good..

Well, soaking them in oil over night tends to bleed all of the air out of the new ones..
As for the followers (aka rocker arms), ideally, they're supposed to be matched the exact cylinder/valve that it originally came from.. Depending on the mileage of the engine, and the condition of the followers/HLAs, you my not have any problems, but I've never mis-matched these things when rebuilding an engine, so I don't know specifically what could happen. I was always told to keep them together..

Any information will help. Thanks in advance.
Well, in theory, being an automatic lash adjustment should alleviate any type of discrepancy between them, but like I said, I don't have any personal experience mixing and matching followers.. My father always said that the cam and follower wear specially together, so I just took his word for it...

Well, normally, you'd replace a follower and HLA as a set, and all of the times I've replaced them, I've replaced the cam(s) at the same time, so it was never an issue, however, if it's new, I can't imagine it make a huge difference, although like I said, as things beat on each other for thousands of miles, they tend to form specific characteristics of each other.. I don't think I've ever replaced an individual follower, rocker arm, lifter, HLA, or push rod, so I really don't know.. I'd say, as long as it's charged (soaked in oil), and there aren't any major discrepancies, you could put it anywhere you'd like.. Then again, I have no experience in mixing and matching, so please understand my reluctancy of just telling you to just do it a certain way..
