Quick Question about brake fluid
I am about to change my brake lines in my Bullitt GT, I was wondering how much brake fluid to use when I go torefill the brake fluid. Do I need to mix it with anything? I don't have an owners manual for my car so I can't look to that for answers so I was hoping you guys could help! Thanks!

RE: Quick Question about brake fluid
You are going to need to bleed the whole system and it is a real pain. I'd say buy 2 quarts of DOT 3 to be safe. You don't need to mix it with anything and don't use DOT 4, 5, or 5.1 cause they have different properties. Best way to do it would be with a vacuum bleeder if you can get ahold of one.

It's not that bad it'll probably take the longest time installing the actual lines. Actually bleeding the brakes with the wheels offshould only take 15 min tops with another person working the pedal for you.

RE: Quick Question about brake fluid
hold on, you emptied all the fluid? If so your gonna need to bleed all 4 brakes. I would recommend brake fluid be changed out every 20-50k miles depending on the type of driving you do, also step up to dot4 if you do any kind of performance driving. Look into getting stainless steel lines if you havent already.
Best investment I've made is a 1 man bleeder, small little pump that attaches to a hose with a ball bearing inside that I can use to pump the brake fluid out of the bleeder valve. Takes maybe 5-10 mins to bleed all the brakes (minor bleeding heh)

I bleed the brakes on my track car 12-15 times a year. I started using the old fashioned pump and release method. Works well, but time consuming. Then I used a small vacuum pump. That worked OK, but not that great. Then I installed some Russel Speed Bleeders. That's the hot ticket. Get the job done in not time at all; and I have 8 bleeder ports!

RE: Quick Question about brake fluid
I finally got it all done, I did a google search and found what I needed to do with a little help from my girlfriend on the pedal haha. But thanks for all the advice, next time I do it I probably will buy something to help bleed it! Thanks!
