how fast 98 cobra
Sweet...
I do know though, that i'd rather have an older Cobra than a New Edge, for the fact that they respond a bunch better to mods than a 2v...

Check out the 12/99 issue of Motor Trend. They got a 14 flat at 100 MPH with the '99 Gt they tested. 0-60 was 5.4 seconds. Car weighed 3242 pounds. They claimed that this time and I quote"is as good asor better than any stockMustang we've ever tested, Cobra or not."
I think that people forget how fast the new edges really were for their time. Yea, LS1 Camaros and Vetteswere faster, but not much elsewas.I know that my car with the gears and 3100 pounds has very little to worry about on the streets around here, even today. It's an easy 13 second car. No "driver mod" required.
To me, the only Cobra worth paying the extra cost over a '99-04 Gt for is an '03-'04.

I see 96-98 Cobras going for between $6000 and $10000 all the time.. I see even 99-01 Cobras going for peanuts over what a New Edge costs..
I'd go the extra step and pay a little more, knowing that the power plant I'd be working with, would be far superior in many ways, than the 2v 4.6.. I'd rather start modding an engine that instantly sees improvements with a CAI and Mid-pipe back, over what would take additional parts to make equivalent.. If you threw some 3.73's in a 96-98 Cobra, on top of a decent tune, with the CAI/Exhaust, I bet it wouldsafely beatthe New Edge with the exact same mods..

It got a 13.6 @ 106 mph with just taking the intake silencer off recorded from Fast Fords and Muscular Mustangs. That is impressive especially with everything else stock including stock 3.27 gears

9/10 races from a dig will be a drivers race between the two cars stock for stock.
Rolls should be pretty good for the Cobras because of their breathing advantage as the race reaches higher rpms in higher gears.
Mod for mod is also a huge advantage for the Cobra. I've heard of gear/DR/exhaust 96-98 Cobras flirting with 13.0's.
