rebuild
I have a '94 Mark VIII motor (teksid block) with a few goodies to go with it (headers, cobra intake manifold, BBK throttle body) The motor has 40K on it but its been sitting in a garage for a good while. To be safe I'd like to go ahead and get it apart and do seals, gaskets, maybe bearings, etc etc before my swap is done. I'm on a college studet budget, so keep that in mind. I'm saving money right now and I'm trying to get an idea of how much this kind of stuff is going to cost. Couple of questions:
1. Where would I begin to look for a rebuild kit (?) for this? Idea of a price?
2. Can I do a rebuild myself in my garage? I'm mainly thinking of the complex 4 cams/timing parts of it. (I've helped rebuild pushrods in the past)
3. How pricey/extensive is porting and polishing? Can I do it myself? And what kind of a difference would it make?
4. What else should I be thinking about? What kind of power should this motor be able to handle as a RELIABLE daily driver? Theres a small chance I'd be going F/I after a little while, I assume with pretty modest boost.
haha basically where should I start?
