I didnt swap out the timing cover. Your basiclly using everything off the 97 engine...your two coil packs, harness, alt,etc...,but your timing cover, valvecovers and intake manifold you dont changer. Its very straight forward.

If you can buy the 03 motor for say even$700-$800 you would be better off to buy it and do the pi swap on the motor in the car and have the short block siting there to build to your taste.you will have that much in buying cams porting heads and get the heads resurfaced to put back on your car.so why not do the pi swap and have a short block to build and have the same performance as the npi heads ported with cams?
