^exactly lol... that seems kind of weird... to me at least.

... you go from a 2000/2002 SS (both ls1 f-bodies) that run low 13's BONE STOCK. (13.2-13.4) and some even lower of course/// better drivers/perfect conditions...add 1500.00 in mods to one of those- like Gears, (150-180)- Drag Radials (150-180 EACH) and do whatever else you want- exhaust/intake etc... you get my point...

to a car(COBALT) that you are saying will ONLY COST YOU 1500.00 to get to mid 13's-

yeah I agree with matt lol. going from that---- to a 4 cyl. fwd. hmmm

best of luck tho

I would call my Cobalt SS the Anti-Rice if anything.

My Camaro SS's were both high 12 second cars after a couple $$ in mods.

Truthfully though I miss my Mustang the most and I don't even know why.

My 2003 GT:
- White with dark graphite interior
- Optional 5 spoke chrome wheels
- Mach1 grille and chin spoiler
- Mach1 shocks/struts/springs
- Mach1 pedal kit
- 03/04 Cobra front sway-bar and 98 Cobra rear sway bar
- Ford Aluminum D/S
- Predator flash programmer
- Ford 70mm T/B with ported plenum and Steeda spacer
- B&M Shifter
- Borla mufflers
- Moto Blue U/D water pump pulley
- Rear honeycomb panel (35th style)
- K&N Filter with shortened silencer

why is everyone comparing the z28, trans am, and the SS to a gt....,...if you want a reall comparisin then compare it to the cobra. the GT is a 4.6 2V motor , why pick on the little guyz? scared of the 4.6 4V motor against the 5.7,6.0 4V motors?? the 4.6 4V runs with the 5.7's back in the day without supercharger. 325 cobra ,SS,Z's,Trans am all had around 325 to. Then GM rebuilt the motor and came out with the LS2's which have 400hp and ford came out with the 4.6 4V same engine but instead of making it bigger they slapped a supercharger on it (small one) for a 390HP car. its still almost a whole little smaller then the 5.7. that cobra motor in 99,01 ran with the SS's and Z's and trans with a 4.6 4V!!! not a 5.7 4V! now...who has the better technology?? so stop comparing those cars to a 4.6 2V , its not even in the same leasgue its not made for all that power, it was plenty power for being a 4.6 2v motor considering it only has like 80 less hp then those 5.7 4V motors and its not even DOHC and a litter smaller almost.

I love all muscle cars, Ford, GM , Dodge, dont matter as long as it has a V8 ,sounds mean as hell, and isnt a rice burner. And for those who put FART CANS on a mustang GT...go KILL YOURSELF! and this happens i've seen it on a 98 mustang gt, dual fart cans? ARE YOU SERIOUS???

thats what i hate about bigger engines cause you might run with them all modded up but as soon as they spend as much money on their ride as you did yours they spank the sh** out of you

When the T/A, Z28, SS, etc. Came out they were pretty pricey. Still more expensive then a GT of the same year. For instance according to Edmunds.com, the 2001 Mustang GT books just at 10k, while the Z28 is just over 12k, and the T/A is just under 14k. Money makes the car go down the track, you can't put the GT vs either of those cars because those cars were competing with the Cobra. They base competition on price and type of car. I've raced 2 T/A in my car, one I beat and the other I got spanked by - both were stock and if not minimal mods. T/A is a great car, even if all Pontiacs look the same on the inside, haha. Don't bash em, and don't lie about how you spank 'em - if any bolt on 2v mustang beat a T/A that badly, it's either because he didn't know you were racing, or he didn't know how to shift his car from first gear.

You need to comapare prices when the cars were new not used car price, too many varibles there. 98-02 Z/28's could have beeen had new for around $23-24000, thats comprable to the GT price. IMO any car that is within $3000 is in the same price range when you are talking new cars.

This is an old arguement that is not going anywhere.

Honestly, some of the posts in here are ridiculous, at best.

A mildly modded 99+ GT is going to have alot of trouble with an equally modded LS1 because the LS1 is a bigger engine.

Stock for stock, the GT loses every time with a comparable driver.

Mach 1s have a better shot due to their increased HP and higher revving 4 valve but should really lose a stock for stock quarter mile race, from a dig, with a comparable driver.

Add more mods to the mix on either car and it comes down to the driver and the mods on each car.

End of story. Thanks for coming [sm=closed.gif]
