A/C compressor problems...HELP!!!
im having some problems with my a/c compressor. when i turn it on i lose lots of power. im gunna say it increases my o-100 time by about 4 seconds.. is this normal? also, if my compressor is on and i rev high(tap the rev limiter) it sounds like a blow off valve. when i pop'd my hood and checked it out, whats happenenin is when the blow off noise happens its actually the compressor shooting sparks. is this a common mustang problem? my a/c still works fine. should i get a new one?

You should not be running the AC when you're banging on the car, doing so will reduce the AC clutch and compressor life by a whole bunch. The sparks mean that the AC clutch is burned out and running metal-to-metal with the drive pulley, you'll probably need to replace both before long...

RE: A/C compressor problems...HELP!!!
my ac compressor went kaput too. repair guy said its about $1200 to fix, dealer says $1400. what they did for me was they removed the metal plate on the front so that it wouldn't make any noises, or in your case, any sparks. AC still blows, but its hot air. maybe you can have them do that as a temporary fix if you don't wanna spend all the money just yet.
ps this will only be a TEMPORARY fix, as the bearings on the compressor will be next to go out soon.
