EXACTLY. Sugar cane is THE best way to do this. Look at the guys in brasil, they were paying 65, 70 cents a liter for their fuel.
I don't see ethanol having any potential in the US.
The thing that has the most potential for us, is drilling Alaska. Which is safe, clean and harmless with todays technology and more than likely has a very good supply of the oil but these stupid liberals are holding the country hostage.

We need to make it form sugar cane... It is way more effective than corn and grows ridiculously fast.

RE: E-85
Brazil wants to sell us their E-85 derived from sugarcane, but our damn officials who "do whats best for the country" put such a high tarriff on it that it doesn't make sense.
However, E-85 has to come a long way, the yield is horrible, it takes about a gallon of "beer" to make about 500ml of fuel. Yea, it sucks.
But, with that being said, they are finding new feedstocks for it. My personal favorite is switchgrass. Its a naturally growing plant that needs no fertilzer and needs not alot of attention to grow.
It'll be years but its good to see someone trying to make a difference in congress but unfortunately that damned Nancey Pelosi stopped them from trying to make a stand.
Ok, I got off topic but in conclusion, I would not do it at the moment. You'd have a bit more power but its not worth it financially atm.
