For a shortie header install I had to lift the engine up to install the bbk shorties i have. You could also remove the k-member and it will be really easy to install them. But if I were you I suggest getting a set of gears. I think you will be much happier in the end with the gains.

I don't mean to hijack the thread but I am actually planning on getting some gears soon but I was wondering about something. I get what everyone means that our powerband (I have an 04 GT) is pretty high up there. Sometimes when I floor it, I don't feel much power until like after 3000rpm. So from my understanding, new gears will basically have me accelerate faster. The part I don't get is how they say "get into the power band quicker". So in regular driving on the street, obviously I am not gonna redline my car. I usually shift at 2000-2500rpm. Will my acceleration actually still be faster?

Thanks,
Brandon

yes your acceleration will still be faster with the gears trust me^. And as for the headers i just installed my mac lt's what a pita and i had the tranny out cause i was doing a clutch so there was even more room to screw around but some of the nuts are a bitch to reach. Your gonna need a range of extensions and swivals and what helped alot which we found more towards the end was a socket that was deep enough to go over the studs but not too deep cause its tight in there. I didn't remove the k memeber i just lifted the engine.Taking thek member outwould have taken alot of time plus you should really get an alignment after so it wouldn't really have been worth it. For me the driver side was easier idk why but i had a lot more room. And if your gonna go through all that bs putting them in go with lt's. But if your just looking for something right now go with some 4.10's they are fun as hell.

O/rpipe is a piece of cake to install. Just so you know i dont think just an o/r is gonna keep up with your buddy. Gears are theone of the bestmodsto get. But i understand where your coming from. So just do what you can for now if all you can do is an o/r than go for it. Its better than nothing. Does you buddy have any mods?

gears def. but if you are against doing it now then do the o/r x and a nice catback (minus the cats since you won't have them) and atleast your car will sound much better and you will gain about 10 rwhp
