Blew my engine, engine swap time.

Well i went and looked at that motor today. I was told the car was totaled out by a interior fire, but the motor wasnt hurt. Looking at the motor... the intake manifold and fuel rails are burnt to a crisp. Valve covers are somewhat burned but not bad, but they do need replaced. How can i find out if my valve covers off my 98 will fit on this new motor?
Nevermind i found a 99 GT engine for $900 bucks with 72k miles, im gonna go take a look at it right now.

I don't think that would be really cost effective. You gain less than 10hp from the bump in compression. Also, I don't see him finding a quality used short block. If he wanted to run F/I later he would have to limit himself greatly on boost making it less than desirable and possibly dangerous. If he find himself a nice low mileage PI engine, he can gain back many miles of life into his car with Hp, reliability and future modification possibility with a more reliable start. My example is I had 122k miles on my NPI. My PI engine only had 30k on it and now I have a s/c on it making 436rwhp. NA I made 265rwhp with very little mods and good tune.
I could see it "IF" he had a head/valve problem and his short block was still good AND he wanted to use spray.
