bogging sputtering.....
I had the same problem recently...sputtering, stalling. I replaced the coil pack (they were bad...rusted) and I cleaned the fuel injectors and replaced the fuel pump (just to be sure). Car runs perfect!!!!!!!! I would start with checking out the coil packs and move on from there. Hope this helps.
Here, just do this and you should be on your way: FIRST go and buy the Haynes Repair Manual for our car (at any auto parts store), it's a lifesaver, then...
1)Dry the coilpacks (the black towers that sit on top of the plugs), spray em with electrical parts cleaner, and then let em air dry or sit in the sun for a couple of hours.
2)Replace all of your spark plugs (with MotorCraft plugs only!!!), its a bit of a bitch, so go ahead and splurge and spend the extra dough on a spark plug tool for our cars (Google-it, and buy it), and torque down the plugs to ONLY 13 ft-lbs!! Thats important to not do any damage to the aluminum heads.
3)Buy a new EGR valve (or clean it like i stated before), and slap that back on.
4)Replace the coil packs, and connect everything back up.
5)Replace your air filter, or buy a K&N drop-in if you have the stock set up, or clean it if it's aftermarket.
6)Go and get your oil changed (if you need it)
7)Put in some fuel-injector cleaner on a full tank.
8)Start it up, drive, enjoy.....!!!
