what gears do i have?
i know this may sound stupid but i purchased my car pre owned and it looks as though its completely stock but i was wondering if perhaps the rear end gears would b higher. its an auto 99 gt. it shifts from 1st at 40mph and 2nd is around 72-75 im not sure. so this should be the stock gears right? i dont know what it feels like with 3.73s or 4.10s but i assume mine are stock. i ordered 4.10s so i hope theres a difference. when i cruise at 65 its right around 2k rpms in 4th gear. could someone please help!!
thanks

You have stock gears(3.27)...2k is about right at that speed(65) in 4th gear/overdrive in an auto with stock gears.
*edit...and yes you will feel the difference with 4.10's...night and day difference for sure. Best performance bang for your buck besides F/I! If you really want your car to perform well since it's an auto...you also might want to think about getting a higher stall torque converter to go with those gears? That mod helps you from a dig...something automatics have a hard time doing w/stock stall speeds. Manuals can let go at just about any rpm...stock auto's are not that lucky...in that they launch no higher than the pre-determined stall rating...plus or minus other issues...like pavement surface or if your running street radials or drag radials. You could potentially take anywhere from .5 to 1 second off your et's if you race the 1/4 with a good stall, gear, and tune setup w/minimal or no other mods at all.

yea the 4.10 are real nice i have 3.73 but im changing mine next weeke to 4.10. you might also want to look into a handheld tuner so u can tune ur shift points i spin tires in 1st 2nd and sometimes 3rd bc my car red lines so high.

i've always heard you can't "feel them as much" in an auto that 4.10s feel like 3.73s in a manual but i've never been in an auto with aftermarket gears so its all word of mouth.
