Default Brake lights not working

when i step on my brakes, my lights dont work. My reverse lights work, and when i turn on my running lights when it starts getting dark, they work as well...its just the brake lights.

quick fix? do i need a new sensor or something?

do your turn signals work? If they work then we know the bulbs and wiring to the back is good. then check the brake light switch. Its mounted on the brake pedal itself. make sure its pluged in. if it is disconnect the connector to the switch and jump the pins(wires). if the lights come on then you have a bad switch. also check for bad fuses.

The switch on the brake may be broken or misaligned. Doughboy4.6 had this issue last summer. It Did the same things you're describing.

If you have a meter or test light. with the key on check for power at one of the terminals at the brake light switch. If there power there thats good. now press the brake pedal with the connector installed on the switch and see if you have power on the other side. If thats good. I would say you may have a bad multi function switch (turn signal switch). becuase the wire from the brake switch goes to the multi function switch then to the rear lights. and since your turn signals work that eliminates any damaged wires from the switch to the rear of the car.
