axle - cross pin

Default axle - cross pin

i want to pull my axle shaft out to see how many splines i have for sure, while removing the cross pin bolt, it snapped...what now?

you can try using a pic and back the pin out. I have gotten lucky a few times and this has worked. just turn it counter clockwise like you were unbolting it. If that doesn't work your going to have to drive the center pin through using a punch and a good heavy hammer. And go get your self a new center pin bolt.

Or you could use anything solid. you might get away with sacraficing a 3/8 or 1/2 extension.

ill use a craftsman...then ill just warranty it...i tried a ballpin hammer and hitting it with another hammer with no luck...

thats to risky iv'e seen guys shatter hammer doing that. just sacrafice a extension for now. and use the heaviest hammer you have. once you sheer the lock pin it will come right out. Just remember to angle the pin so it has enough room behind it and don't damage the pinion gear.
