ok so the use of "uh" was gay, I admit. didn't know they were underrated. was this intentional by Ford or do they just not know how to measure hp at the crank?
they were underrated for insurance reasons, and insurance reasons only.
I believe it was intentional to give those chevy guys a kick in the nuts.
as if chevy doesnt underrate their LSx engines....most of the LS1 camaros i come across were putting down close to 300 at the tire in stock form, let alone at the crank....so i dont think that theory has much pull
^+1 i was gonna say same thing as you. Instead of the camaro passing the corvette, the vette guy would be thinking "hows this ls1 camaro rated at 315hp beating my 350hp ls1 vette?"

those, my friends, are known as factory freaks. the highest i have heard a stock terminator put down to the wheels, was 390hp.
Exactly. Anything rated over 400hp is an automatic, huge increase in insurance premium.
might be a dumb question but i know nothing about insurance....
so say i buy a stock termi rated at 390 HP (again stock) and add some mods (smaller pully and waht not) and it jumps over 400hp. does the insurance then go up since its over 400hp? or does it stay the same since its rated at 390hp from the factory??
it goes by what the car is rated from factory... you could turbo it and have 700 hp and they wouldn't change a thing, unless you called for gap insurance which covers the goods you put on to a certain percent lol
