Default Easy question? Need answer!

I have recently put on a Cold Air Intake. When taking off the stock one there is a little net thing that stops dirt from going up the intake. It basically blocks the whole airway. I was wondering if it needs to be on there because i put it on and im thinking it is just taking away power because it is so big. If you know what im talking about please help. I Really think i should take it out.

the screen was intended to smooth out the flow of air over the MAF.

You don't need it with a CAI. Throw that **** in the box with all your old stock airbox crap.
