HOW TO: INTERCEPTOR Motor Swap Into 99-04 GT
#33
OK, guys, sorry for the massive delay. i honestly haven't finished the swap. I must say it was terribly more involved then I thought, and I had to step back and get a little space from the project. There were tons of minor differences that really ad up to minor headaches. I hope it is worth it as a cheap engine replacement. I sold my old block for $200 so that recouped some of the $...
I will update the thread a little more in the next couple days with pictures ect..

Well reading that it was a little misleading. The swap is actually pretty easy. It is kind of hard doing the work alone. Extra hands would come in handy. The only MAJOR problem is a casting difference on the drives side of the block where the oil filter goes.. In order to use my Oil pedastil I have to grind the strange casting ear off so the sensor can go on. That is taking a while due to limited clearance. PLUS this is my first Mustang engine pull.. I went from never touching the car, to pulling the engine out. I would still recommend the swap at this point. I only have $680 invested including CLutch, flywheel, engine, and fluids.. (after selling my old parts)..
I had a rough couple weeks, my daily driver was rear ended on the interestate, and my back has just felt a little better this weekend. I am going to spend a little time again on it tomorrow.

Started it up. Sounds good, I am out of gas and there is a noise coming from either the PS pump, OR the idler pulley.. I will post pictures when I get them in order. The noise goes away when the S-belt is off.. I am going to put my PS pump on it and see if that helps (I left the one that was on the engine on)
Here is the video of the startup.

dont worry about ruffcat, just ignore him, he most definitely does not represent all of us others.
To bad some people had to clutter it all up with their BULLSH*T.
Great thread, Fool. Don't worry about guys like Ruffcat. For some reason it's important to some people to know more than everyone else on the Internet.
Why does this dip**** care anyway?
ruffcat needs to go sit in a corner and get out of this thread if he has no good information to say.
"If you can't say something nice, then don't say anything at all...."
Wtf is this? Kindergarten or a discussion forum?
Seems to me RuffCat got the impression Fool MIGHT not know a few things and was just trying to help.....
Just had to play Devil's Advocate for a minute....good luck, OP.

Everything's cool Poisnd U. I really just posted this thread as a record of what I did, not to get into a debate about the Validity of the swap. I swapped due to issues with my passenger head, not to gain horsepower. Mind you I have driven the car around the neighborhood and it does feel a little tighter/quicker. Perhaps it's the mileage difference, not really sure. But I will tell you that no noticeable power loss. Still the same ole 4.6L growl, and heavy torque..
I think the thread got out of hand around page 2 there... People have this stigma about the "INTERCEPTOR" motor... I didn't get tricked by some snake-oil salesman off ebay, I didn't expect some "MAGICAL" power gain by the police gods, I expected a fairly simple drop in motor.. Which is exactly what i got out of it.
Total cost at this point (going from Windsor to Romeo)-
$50 for the flywheel (new)
$230 Clutch (new)
$600 for the engine
