Default Vortech Oil Return Help

I got the vortech oil return line system from someone on ebay because I'm putting together a supercharger kit. I am really confused about the nut fitting that actually goes onto the oil pan. Isn't it supposed to be 3/8"? The diameter is way larger than 3/8". Did this guy send the wrong part? Please look at the pictures and you'll see what I'm saying. I have a 3/8" drill bit in the pictures for reference.

For one you don't drill the oil pan. Use a punch. Start with a small center punch then use a bigger punch (step is perfered) and expand the hole to 9/16ths. They use the 3/8ths tap and thread the hole using grease on the tap.

+1. Every few rotations with the tap, use a magnet and remove any metal shavings around the oil pan.

It's fine but like they said, use a punch and the appropriate Tap.

Yes I completely knew you have to punch the oil pan. The drill bit is only in the picture for size reference because the fitting that threads into the oil pan is larger than 3/8". Does anyone understand what I am trying to say?

I think I figured out my problem. The tap I need is a 3/8-18 right? I had literally a 3/8 diameter tap that is tiny. Can someone verify if 3/8-18 is correct I am kind of going off pictures of taps in online stores.

It's a 3/8" NPT tap. It's plumbing thread lol. I got mine at a hardware store.
