Default Shifting problem...please help

I just bought a 2001 Mustang GT and i have a hard time shifting to 1st gear...i really need to put force and push it in...if im moving or slowing down to a stop and i shift to first to take off while still slightly moving it falls in easily....can it be the transmission fluid? and if it is what is reccomended for that?

I had the same problem. 1st required some force and reverse was difficult sometimes. I just installed a new adjustable clutch cable and quadrant and it fixed it for the most part... I think my clutch wasn't fully engaging when I hit the pedal and that's what caused the problems...

I had my syncro's go out on me 1 year after I bought the car. I had a hard time shifting into 2nd. + the plastic ball inside my shifter was broken, thats what made mine hard to shift. Warranty fixed everything.
