Default Need a clutch

My clutch seems fine when I take off in 1st even if I get on it to spin the tires but as soon as I go to 2nd it wants to slip. I tried putting it in 5th at about 25mph and flooring it but it does not slip at all. What do you guys think? Should I just replace the clucth and forget about it or could it be something else. The car is a 99 gt convertible with 37k miles. If I do replace it what do you recomend? I just plan on bolt ons no F.I. anytime soon. Right now I have an o/r x pipe and weld in 40series flows. Id like to see the car running high 12s this summer I plan on putting in 4.10s but I want to get the clucth problem figured out first. Also should I replace the flywheel while everything is apart or is it not worth the extra money.

Dumb question... but are you sure 2nd gear isnt broke? lol

I have a problem with my pressure plate sticking now and then, but it really isnt gear specific. Usually clutch problems arent related to a single gear, it'll just slip under heavy load in general... I'd go with a King Cobra clutch, and just get the stock flywheel turned at a machine shop.

haha, out of my budget though.

Whitefoxgt - under normal driving everything seems fine. A few weeks ago I took my brother in law for a ride. I stopped, revved it up to about 3k and dumped the clutch everything seemed fine. tires were spinning. I shifted at about 5k and dumped it into 2nd and the tires stopped and the clutch was slipping. Ive tried this 3 or 4 times now with the same result everytime. But when I drive normally everything seems fine. It shifts smooth with no grinds.

That link is the right clutch.. I like the KC because its not super aggressive, and my pedal felt softer than stock.
