Default Settling issues

Hey guys I have a quick question. Every time I shut off my car it makes weird settling noises. It does it after long trips and short trips. Is this normal for a car with aluminum heads? Its a 99gt with 100,000 miles. The sounds are are more like clanks. Besides that it runs fine

not sure about clanks exactly but if it's like tick...tick....tick...

then yeah thats normal especailly after a a longer drive. I think it has something to do with the metal contracting

he may be talking about the unburned deposits in the exhaust being burned, it kind of makes the noises I think he is talking about.
It has a name and my dumb*** can't think of it right now....it's right on the tip of my tongue...oh well I'll figure it out as soon as I get off the computer
